The Basic Health Units (formerly known as Health Centers, Health Posts, Family Clinics), are Primary Care establishments. Each Basic Health Unit (UBS) is responsible for health care for a defined population; thus, each citizen now has a reference UBS from their home address. The basic health units have family health teams (eSF) that are composed of doctors, nurses, nursing technicians and community health agents and oral health teams (eSB)
Assistance for minor emergencies, such as:
Fever, earache, sore throat, headache, toothache, stomach ache, nausea and vomiting, diarrhoea, problems with breastfeeding, palpitation, malaise, minor injuries, high blood pressure, diabetes, minor burns, animal bite or scratch, insect bites, hives, ingrown toenails, dressing changes, weakness, tremors, stitch removal, cholesterol problems, alcohol or other drug problems, menstrual problems, suspected pregnancy, domestic violence, anxiety, depression, suspected dengue, bloating, and other problems that do not put your life at risk. Note: In emergencies that put your life at risk, such as a heart attack, stroke, fractures, traffic accidents, serious injuries, falls from heights, seizures, unconsciousness, labour, major bleeding, you should immediately seek medical attention.
It is also on the Basic Health Unit that you will be receiving care and services such as:
Monitoring of chronic diseases, including hypertension and diabetes;
Monitoring and treatment of leprosy and tuberculosis;
Diagnostic test, treatment and monitoring of dengue, zika, yellow fever and other viruses (transmissible by vectors - mosquitoes);
Dressings, removal of stitches, exchange of probes, sutures and small procedures;
Reproductive planning, insertion of IUDs, delivery of condoms (male and female) and other contraceptive methods;
Rapid pregnancy test and prenatal care;
Vaccination (can be performed in any unit that provides the service, regardless of where you live)
Collection of laboratory tests;
Making of SUS Card; (See specific posting)
Delivery of medicines and basic supplies;
Prevention, counselling, testing and treatment of HIV / AIDS, Hepatitis, Syphilis and other Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs);
Cervical and breast cancer screening;
Administration of medications and nebulization, among other actions and services;
Mental health;
Oral health (Dentist);
Ways of Access:
Reception at any Basic Health Unit is guaranteed to every citizen. You will be welcomed by a professional from the team, who will listen to your report of complaints or need for information and, from that, the need for immediate care (acute and more serious cases), procedures, vaccination, scheduling (for residents of the city) will be evaluated. Area of coverage of the team / unit) or referral to the health unit responsible for the user's home territory.
Note: Vaccination can be performed in any UBS that provides this service, regardless of where you live.

Opening hours:
The opening hours of the Basic Health Units (BHU) vary according to the type of Unit and the number of teams that work in it. All Basic Health Units must be open to the public uninterruptedly from opening hours until closing times. Usually from 08:00h to 17:00h.
Service priority: Service priority is defined through the Risk Classification, a process of prioritizing services by assessing the severity of a situation presented, using clinical and vulnerability criteria.
